Term | Definition |
Respiration | The process by which cells break down simple food moleules to release the energy they contain. |
Cilia | The hair-like projections on the outside of cells that move in a wavelike manner. |
Pharynx | The throat; part of both respitory and digestive systems. |
Trachea | The windpipe; a passage through which air moves in the respitory system. |
Bronchi | A passage of airway in the respiratory system that conducts air into the lungs. |

Vocal Chord | Foolds of connective tissue that sreches across the opening of the larynx and produce a persons voice. |
