Abiotic factor | An enviromental factor that is not associated with the activites of living organisms |
Population | A group of oirganisms of the same species that live in a specific geographical area. |
Species | A group of organisms that are closely related and can mate to produce fertile offspring. |
Community | All of the population of species that live in the same habitat and interact with each other. |
Ecosystem | A community of organisms and their abiotic, or nonliving enviroment. |
Habitat | The place where an organism usally lives. |
Niche | The role of a species in its community, including use of its habitat and ots relationship with other species. |
Producer | An organism that can make its own food by using energy from its surroundings. |
Decomposer | An organism that gets energy by breaking down the remains or animals wastes and consuming or absorbing the nutrients. |
Consumer | An organism that eats other organisms or organic matter. |
Herbivore | An organism that eats only plants. |
Carnivor | An organism that eats animals. |
Omnivore | An organism that eats both plants and animals. |
Food Chain | The pathway of energy transfer through various stages as a result of the feeding patterns of a series of organisms. |
Food Web | A diagram that shows the feeding relationship between organisms in an ecosystem. |
