order   A subdivision of a class; includes one or more families of organisms.

family   A subdivision of an order; includes one or more genera of organisms.

genus   In the modern classification system, a subdivision of a family; includes one or more species of organisms.

species   A group of similar organisms that interbreed and produce offspring capable of reproducing.

scientific name   The unique two-word name of a particular organism. Also called genus-species name. Genus name is capitalized, and the entire name is written in Latin and italics.

biblical kind   The grouping of organisms, established by God, that are able to breed among themselves and produce offspring.
