Neurons | Specialized cells, that recieve and send sifgnals to coordinate the body's thoughts, senses, movements, balance, and many automatic responses.

Nerves | Bundles of tissue that carry signals from one place to another.

Spinal Cord | The column of nerve tissue that runs through the backbone.

Central Nervous System(CNS) | The brain and spinal cord make this system up.

Peripheral Nervous System(PNS) | The nerves that connect the brain and spinal cord to other parts of the body.

Synapse | A point between a neuron that is sending a signal and the neuron or other cell that is recieveing the signal.

Neurotransmitters | Chemicals that move across the synaptic cleftnand bind to receptors on the surface of the next cell.

Sensory Nerves | Nerves that carry signals from the sense organs toward the CNS, where they are processes or relayed.

Motor Nerves | Nerves that carry signals from the brain or the spinal cord to the muscles and glands.

Cerebrum | The most complex part of the brain which is the center for thought, imagination, and emotions.

Cerebellum | The part of the brain that controls balance and posture.

Brain Stem | The part of the brain that guides signals coming from the spinal cord to other parts of the brain.

Spinal Nerves | Nerves that branch from the spinal cord and that go to the brain and to the tissues of the body.

Reflex | An involuntary response that enables the body to react immediately to a stimulus, such as a possible injury.
