Answer
What is trace evidence?   Any very small physical material that can be transferred from person to person or between a person and a crime scene.
🗑
What are some examples of trace evidence?   Hair, fibers, glass, paint, dirt, and plant material.
🗑
Why would you use hair for evidence at a crime scene?   You can figure out if hair is from humans or if it is from animals, hair is small, easily shed, clingy, goes unoticed, is hardy, and survives for a long period of time, and hair contains many toxins like arsenic and you can extract DNA from the follicle.
🗑
What is cortex?   The largest portion of the shaft giving you the hair color that you have.
🗑
What is cuticle?   The layer of cells that cover the surface of the shaft and looks like scales on a fish or even roofing tiles. Scales overlap and always point up the shaft, away from the bulb.
🗑
What is medulla?   Cells that run down the center of the vortex like a canal.
