| Class: | Anticholinergic

| Description: | Chemically related to atropine. Ipatropium is a bronchodilator used in the treatment of respiratory emergencies. If causes bronchial dilation and dries respiratory tract secretions by blocking acetylcholine receptors.

| Onset: | 5-15 minutes
🗑

||||
| Duration: | 4-6 hours
🗑
|
||||
| Indications: | Bronchospasm associated with: Asthma, COPD, Inhaled irritants
🗑
|
||||
| Contraindications: | Hypersensitivity, Hypersensitivity to atropine or its derivatives, Hypersensitivity to soy products or peanuts, As primary treatment for acute bronchospasm

|
||||
| Adverse reactions: | Cough, Nausea, Nervousness, Tachycardia, Palpatations, Constipation, Headache
🗑
|
||||
| Precautions: | Elderly patients, Cardiovascular disease, Hypertension
🗑
|
||||
| Dosage/Route: | 500mcg in 2.5 to 3mL NS via nebulizer, 2 sprays from a metered dose inhaler
