Independent Variable   A part of an experiment that you purposely change in each trial. You are changing it to see if you will cause a different result.

Dependent Variable   The part of the experiment that might change because of the independent variable. It is the data you measure and record in your experiment.

Data Table   An organized chart or grid that shows the dependent variables you were measuring in an experiment.

Graph   A diagram that used dots, lines, bars, etc. to show the results of an experiment.

Conclusion   What you learned from your experiment. It is a short statement (a few sentences at most) that tells what you found out when you tested your hypothesis.

Line Graph   A type of graph that uses data points connected with a line to show how two variables change in relationship to one another.

Bar Graph   A type of graph that uses parallel bars to compare the amounts of two or more variables.

Pie Chart   A type of graph that shows different variables as parts of a whole set of data.
