1   Carry out beginning procedure: Wash hands, Identify patient and yourself, explain procedure, provide for privacy, elevate bed to proper working position

2   Assemble equipment: Gloves, bottom sheet, draw sheet, protector pad, top sheet, blanket, and pillow case

3   Place bedside chair at the foot of the bed and arrange clean linen on the chair in the order in which it is to be used

4   Raise bed, lower side rail and loosen the bedclothes on your side

5   Put the side rail up and go to the oposite side of the bed and adjust the mattress to the head of the bed and remove the top covers except for teh top sheet one at a time

6   Place a clean sheet over the top sheet and slide the soiled sheet out from the top to bottom

7   Ask the patient to move to the side of the bed toward you and assist in necessary, raise side rail and go to other side of the bed.

8   Fanfold the soiled cotton draw sheet and bottom sheet, Straighten the matteress pad

9   Place a clean sheet on the bed so that the narrow hem comes to the edge of the mattress at the foot with seamed side of teh hem toward teh bed and the lengthwise center fold of the sheet at the center of the bed.
