| Habit 4 | Think Win-Win
🗑
| Module 11: Balance Courage and Consideration | I can build effective relationships with people by working for their benefit as well as my own.
🗑
| Win-Lose | You're always trying to get ahead of others or be better than other people. You can't win unless other people lose.
🗑
| Lose-Win | You're not brave enough to stick up for yourself. You say yes too fast, are easily taken advantage of, and bury a lot of feelings.
🗑
| Lose-Lose. | If you can't win, nobody wins. You get revenge. you envy and criticize others. You put other people down.
🗑
| Win-Win or No Deal | You're ready to walk away before someone loses, including yourself. Balancing courage and consideration is the way to help others feel good and for you to feel good too.
🗑
| Courage and Consideration Matrix | Consists of four corners, determines your courage and consideration. Ideally you want to be in the top right corner.
🗑
| Bottom Right Corner | Lose-Win, high in consideration but low in courage. You don't say anything since you want to be liked and you don't want trouble.
🗑
| Bottom Left Corner | Lose-Lose, low in both courage and consideration. You don't care if other people lose, nor do you have the courage to stand up for yourself.
🗑
| Upper Left Corner | Win-Lose, low in consideration and high in courage. You might be subtle about it, but you ultimately see life as a competition, and you want to make sure you're taken care of first.
🗑
| Upper Right corner | Win-Win or No Deal, high in both courage and consideration. You're ready to walk away before someone loses, including yourself.
🗑
| Module 12: Make Deposits in Other People's Emotional Bank Accounts (EBAs) | I can make deposits of kindness and helpfulness into other people's Emotional Bank Accounts. When I do this, it's easier to make new friends and build strong relationships.
🗑
| Find Out What a Deposit Is for the Other Person | What you think is a deposit for the other person may in fact be a withdrawal in their mind. You won't know unless you find out.
🗑
| Do Small Acts of Kindness | A second deposit is to treat people with kindness. It would make someone's day if you were the one person that showed kindness.
🗑
| Keep Promises | Nothing bankrupts the EBA faster, even if the account has a huge balance, than to break a serious promise. Think carefully before using the words "I promise" or "I commit".
🗑
| Keep Confidences | When someone shares something with you in confidence, keep it that way.
🗑
| Be Loyal to the Absent | When the person isn't there avoid gossiping or backbiting. Stick up for people.
🗑
| Set Clear Expectations | Don't leave things fuzzy, clearly state what you'll do, then follow through on what's expected.
🗑
| Apologize | If you're in the wrong, admit it now: "That was unkind of me, I apologize." Don't wait.
🗑
| Forgive | Learn to forgive and to forget so that you don't keep hurting yourself the way you were hurt.
