Question
Answer
Babinski Reflex   0-12 months. Extension and fanning of toes with stroke of lateral foot.
🗑
Flexor Withdrawal Reflex   0-2 months. Withdrawal of extremity with sharp stimulus to foot/palm.
🗑
Crossed Extension Reflex   0-2 months. Withdrawal of lower extremity and extension of opposite extremity with sharp stimulus to foot.
🗑
Galant Reaction   0-2 months. Stroke to paravertebral line causes ipsilateral lateral flexion.
🗑
Moro Reflex   0-4 months. Sudden neck extension causes immediate shoulder flexion/abduction and elbow extension followed by shoulder extension/abduction and elbow flexion.
🗑
Primary Standing Reaction   In supported standing, infant will weight bear and extend lower extremities. WILL PREVENT WALKING IF NOT INTEGRATED....CAUSES EXTENSION OF LE, WHICH PREVENTS FORWARD PROGRESSION.
🗑
Primary Walking Reaction   0-2 months. In supported standing, patient will demonstrate reciprocal walking with assisted weight shifting.
🗑
Neonatal Neck Righting   0-6 months. In supine, when neck is turned, the body will roll toward that same side.
🗑
Rooting   0-3 months. Stroke the perioral region and the infant will turn their head toward that side and open their mouth.
🗑
Sucking   0-6 months. Touch to lips, tongue, or palate results in sucking
🗑
Startle   0-6 months. Sudden stimulus (sound/light/cold) causes sudden jerking of whole body or UE extension/abduction followed by adduction.
🗑
Tonic Labyrinthine Reflex   0-6 months. In prone, Flexor tone. In supine, extensor tone. If it isn't integrated, it can prevent rolling and other movements.
🗑
Asymmetric Tonic Neck Reflex   0-5 months. Rotation of head causes Heisman pose; extension of face side extremities and flexion of skull side extremities.
🗑
Palmar Grasp   0-4 months. Pressure stimulus against palm causes it to close.
🗑
Plantar Grasp   0-9 months. Pressure stimulus to sole or lowering of feet to floor causes toe curling. MUST BE INTEGRATED OR IT WILL IMPEDE WEIGHT BEARING IN WALKING.
🗑
Placing reactions.   0-6 months. Drag dorsum of the foot or back of hand against edge of table to get placement of hand or foot on tabletop.
🗑
Pull to sit.   0-6 months. Pull baby by hands from supine to sit. Upper extremities will flex and there will be head lag till about 4-5 months.
🗑
Optical and Labyrinthine Righting Reactions.   1 month - throughout life. Tilt the body and the head will adjust in order to keep the eyes vertically aligned.
🗑
Protective Reaction   Quick displacement of trunk causes protective reaction. 4 months - downward. 6 months - sideward. 7 months - forward sitting. 9 months - backward sitting.
🗑
Body Righting Reaction Acting on Head   4-6 montsh throughout life. Contact of the body with a solid surface results in head righting.
🗑
Body righting reaction acting on body.   6 months - life. Rotation of head/thorax results in rolling over with rotation between trunk/pelvis.
🗑
Landau Reaction   4-18 months. When infant held in ventral position, head and trunk will extend. (Think of swimming position).
🗑
Tilting Reactions   5-12 months throughout life. Shifting of base of support will results in lateral flexion of spine toward elevated side of support.
🗑
