What is a stipulative definition?   The definition of a new word is invented, or an existing word is applied in a new way

What is a precising definition?   A definition to reduce vagueness. [For example: a little while. A little while could be 5 min or the next year]

What is a theoretical definition?   This definition explains a concept theoretically. If you define man as an 'creature evolving from apes' it is theoretical. No one can prove that men came from apes

What is a persuasive definition?   The definition can influence attitudes. [For example: abortion can be defined as 'the slaughter of innocent children' (which it is) or 'the right of a woman to control her own body']

What is a genus?   A genus is a term defined by a being placed among a higher category. The genus of a term is more general, broad, or abstract that the term itself.

What is a species?   The species is more specific, narrow, or concrete than the genus. It is a category of genus. It is NOT a part of the genus

Define mutually exclusive?   A species that does not overlap, no other category exists [For example: true and false or fact and opinion are mutually exclusive. Women and Lawyers are not mutually exclusive because women can be lawyers.]

Define ambiguity   An ambiguous word is a word with two or more definitions

Define extension   A broad definition. To become more vague

Define intention   A narrower term of the extension. To become more specific
