|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Subduction | Occurs at converging plate boundaries; the process where one plate slides under another.
🗑
| Tectonic Plate | One of the pieces of the Earth’s rocky crust that rests and moves on the semi – liquid mantle.
🗑
| Divergent Boundary | The lithospheric plates are moving away from each other.
🗑
| Convergent Boundary | A boundary where two pieces of the Earth’s crust are colliding.
🗑
| Transform Boundary | The boundary between two tectonic plates that are sliding past one another.
🗑
| Uplift | When forces within the Earth push up a section of crust.
🗑
| Rift Zone | An area where two tectonic plates are moving away from one another.
🗑
| Sea Floor Spreading | New ocean floor is created at a mid – ocean ridge as two tectonic plates move away from one another.
🗑
| Fault | A crack within the Earth’s rocky crust.
🗑
| Contour Lines | On a map, a line that connects points of equal elevation above sea level.
🗑
| Contour Interval | The difference in elevation between any two contour lines on a topographic map.
🗑
| Index Contour Lines | A contour lines that is darker than nearby lines and has its elevation labeled.
🗑
| Weathering | The process of being broken apart by water, air, or ice.
🗑
| Mechanical Weathering | Changes in the size and shape of a rock.
🗑
| Chemical Weathering | A change in the materials that make up a rock.
🗑
| Erosion | The process of moving rock from place to place.
🗑
| Topographic Map | A map that shows the shape and elevation of the land surface using contour lines, and shows other land features.
🗑
| Satellite Images | Photographs made by means of artificial satellites.
🗑
| Land Features | Any naturally occurring landform located on Earth.

Review the information in the table. When you are ready to quiz yourself you can hide individual columns or the entire table. Then you can click on the empty cells to reveal the answer. Try to recall what will be displayed before clicking the empty cell.
To hide a column, click on the column name.
To hide the entire table, click on the "Hide All" button.
You may also shuffle the rows of the table by clicking on the "Shuffle" button.
Or sort by any of the columns using the down arrow next to any column heading.
If you know all the data on any row, you can temporarily remove it by tapping the trash can to the right of the row.
