frontal lobe   forms the anterior portion of each cerebral hemisphere; involved in motor function, problem solving, spontaneity, memory, language, initiation, judgement, impulse control, and social and sexual behavior.

parietal lobe   posterior to the frontal lobe and separated from it by the central sulcus; processes sensory and visual information

temporal lobe   lies below the frontal and parietal lobes and is separated from them by the lateral sulcus; holds the primary auditory cortex. which receives sensory information from the ears

occipital lobe   forms the posterior portion of each cerebral hemisphere and is separated from the cerebellum by a shelf-like extension of dura mater. Visual processing lobe The boundary between the occipital lobe and the parietal and temporal lobes is not distinct

insula   located deep within the lateral sulcus and is covered by parts of the frontal, parietal, and temporal lobes; believed to process convergent information to produce an emotionally relevant context for sensory experience.
