---|---|---|---|---|---|
Continental Crust | Crust not as dense as oceanic crust.
🗑
Oceanic Crust | Crust in the Ocean.
🗑
Mantle | Layer of rock between the earth's crust and core.
🗑
Inner Core | Solid dense center of the earth. (Hottest Layer)
🗑
Outer Core | Liquid core that is formed around the Inner Core.
🗑
Lithosphere | The solid outer layer of the earth that consists of the ridged part of the mantle.
🗑
Lithospheric Plates | Block of Lithosphere that consists of the crust and outer most layer of mantle that moves.
🗑
Asthenosphere | A zone in the upper mantle of the earth, consisting of hot, plastic rock, that lies underneath the solid lithosphere.
🗑
Plate Boundaries | When tectonic plates touch.
🗑
Continental Drift | When Earth was one piece and pieces of the crust were torn apart to make continents today. :)
🗑
Convection Currents | Causes oceanic lithosphere to move sideways from each other.
🗑
Plate Tectonics | Plate Tectonics is a scientific theory describing the large-scale motion of seven large plates and the movements of a larger number of smaller plates of the Earth's lithosphere, since tectonic processes began on Earth between 3 and 3.5 billion years ago.
🗑
Convergent Boundary | The boundary formed by the collision of 2 plates.
🗑
Divergent Boundary | Boundary when 2 plates move away from each other.
🗑
Transform Boundary | When 2 plates are grinding against each other.
