Question
Answer
What is matter?   Matter is anything that has mass and takes up space
🗑
What is chemistry?   Chemistry is a study of matter and it’s changes
🗑
What is the first main point of the particle theory?   All matter is made up of tiny particles.
🗑
What is the second main point of the particle theory?   Particles have empty spaces between them
🗑
What is the third main point of the particle theory?   Even though you cannot see them, particles are moving randomly all the time.
🗑
What is the fourth main point of the particle theory?   Particles move faster and spreed farther apart when hey are heated.
🗑
What is the fifth main point of the particle theory?   particles attract each other, so they tend to stay together rather than fly apart.
🗑
What is the particle theory?   The particle theory explains what matter is made of.
🗑
Is pop a pure substance or a combination mixture? Explain your answer.   Combination mixture because coca-cola has many ingredients such as sugar water and more. A pure substance is when only one particle is in the solution.
🗑
List examples of that are solids, liquids, gases or a combination of these three states. Be able to identify what each mixture contains.   Solid- desk Liquid- Water, Juice Gas- Air
🗑
Why are compact florescent light bulbs and batteries examples of mixtures that are potentially harmful to the environment? How do we take care of our environment when these items become waste?   a) They are harmful because they have a very dangerous chemical in it called mercury. b) We make sure that they are safely recycled. Also that they are put in something or put somewhere safe so that it does not hurt the environment.
🗑
What is the difference between tap water and distilled water?   Distilled water is the purest form of water because it typically has the lowest levels contaminants and minerals.
🗑
Distinguish between a solution (a homogeneous mixture) and a mechanical mixture (heterogeneous mixture). Draw a diagram and use words to help explain the difference using the particle theory.   homogeneous mixtures can be in any of three states-solid, liquid or gas- however there is only one state visible at a time. In a heterogeneous mixture more than one state can be visible at once.

Review the information in the table. When you are ready to quiz yourself you can hide individual columns or the entire table. Then you can click on the empty cells to reveal the answer. Try to recall what will be displayed before clicking the empty cell.

To hide a column, click on the column name.

To hide the entire table, click on the "Hide All" button.

You may also shuffle the rows of the table by clicking on the "Shuffle" button.

Or sort by any of the columns using the down arrow next to any column heading.
If you know all the data on any row, you can temporarily remove it by tapping the trash can to the right of the row.
