Science | A process of observing, studying and thinking about things in the world to gain knowledge
🗑
Variable | a factor in an experiment that can change
🗑
Constant | variable that remains the same (does not change)
🗑
Independent Variable | the variable that is purposely changed. It is the “if”
part of the hypothesis, plotted on the X-axis of a graph
🗑
Dependent Variable | the variable that is measured; the response, the results; the data; the “then” part of the hypothesis; plotted on the Y-Axis
of a graph
🗑
Control Group | the regular (standard) group to which everything is compared
🗑
Experiemental Group | the group(s) being tested with the independent variable
🗑
Repeated Trials | the number of times that experiment is repeated.
🗑
Hypothesis | a educated guess or a testable. Written in an “if, then” format.
🗑
Qualitative Observation | can be described, but not accurately measured. It
does not involve numbers.
🗑
Quantitative Observation | can be measured accurately and correctly with scientific tools. It involves numbers.
🗑
Prediction | Use of knowledge to identify and explain observations or changes in advance
🗑
Inference | The development of ideas based on observations
🗑
