| What causes Superficial (first degree burns)? | Flash flame, ultraviolet light (sunburn)

| What causes a particial thickness (second degree burn)? | Contact with hot liquids or solids, flash flame to clothing, direct flame, chemicals and Ultraviolet light

| What causes full thickness (third degree burns)? | Contact with hot liquids or solids, flame, chemicals, electrical contact

| What do superficial burns look like? | Dry, no vessicles, minimal or no edema, blanches with fingertip pressure and refils when pressure is removed. Increased erythema, very painful

| What do particial thickness burns look like? | Large moist vessicles that increase in size, blanches with fingertip pressure and refills when pressure is removed. Motted with dull white, tan, pink or cherry red areas. Extremely painful!

| What do full thickness burns look like? | Dry leathery eschar. Charred vessels visible under eschar. Vessicles rare, but in thin walled vessicles that fo not increase in size may be present, no blanching with pressure white charred, dark tan, black, red

| What is the most common types of burns? | Thermal burns- caused by flames, scalds, and heat
