Term
Definition
Cell   the smallest structural and functional unit of an organism, typically microscopic and consisting of cytoplasm and a nucleus enclosed in a membrane. Microscopic organisms typically consist of a single cell, which is either eukaryotic or prokaryotic.
🗑
Cell Theory   a theory in biology that includes one or both of the statements that the cell is the fundamental structural and functional unit of living matter and that the organism is composed of autonomous cells with its properties being the sum of those of its cells.
🗑
Eukaryote   A eukaryote is any organism whose cells contain a nucleus and other organelles enclosed within membranes. Eukaryotes belong to the taxon Eukarya or Eukaryota.
🗑
Prokaryote   a microscopic single-celled organism that has neither a distinct nucleus with a membrane nor other specialized organelles. Prokaryotes include the bacteria and cyanobacteria.
🗑
Cell Membrane   Allows substances to pass & block others.
🗑
Cell Wall   Additional Layer Structure & Protection
🗑
Central Vacuole   Water Storage & Provide a little extra support.
🗑
Chloroplast   Traps Sunlight - Produces Food - Photosynthesis
🗑
Cytoplasm   Jellylike substance outside the cell nucleus.
🗑
Golgi body   Modifies and Repackages proteins for "export".
🗑
Lysosome   Nutrients that are cleaned out.
🗑
Mitochondria   Will fold many times and is where a cell will turn into food.
🗑
nucleolus   Makes ribosomes
🗑
nucleus   Central of the cell. Protects the cell's DNA.
🗑
organelle   any of a number of organized or specialized structures within a living cell.
🗑
ribosome   Proteins are made by Ribosomes.
🗑
rough ER   Connected to the outer later of the nucleus & is covered in Ribosomes.
🗑
smooth ER   Does not have ribosomes on it's surface so it looks smooth. Transport to the Golgi.
🗑

Review the information in the table. When you are ready to quiz yourself you can hide individual columns or the entire table. Then you can click on the empty cells to reveal the answer. Try to recall what will be displayed before clicking the empty cell.

To hide a column, click on the column name.

To hide the entire table, click on the "Hide All" button.

You may also shuffle the rows of the table by clicking on the "Shuffle" button.

Or sort by any of the columns using the down arrow next to any column heading.
If you know all the data on any row, you can temporarily remove it by tapping the trash can to the right of the row.
