Term
Definition
reference point   a point used to find or describe the location of an object or the starting point used to describe the motion or position of an object
🗑
position   the location of an object or an object's distance and directions from a reference point
🗑
direction   the path that an object is moving or facing
🗑
motion   a change in position or the process of changing position
🗑
balanced force   equal forces on an object that do not change the position or motion of an object; balanced forces = no movement
🗑
unbalanced force   a force on an object that causes change in the position or motion of an object; one side has more force than another side of an object
🗑
resting position   when an object remains in the same location or spot
🗑
speed   the rate of change of position (or distance traveled) with respect to time
🗑
velocity   the speed and direction of an object
🗑
displacement   the difference between the initial or starting position and the final position of an object that has been moved
🗑
x-axis   the horizontal line with labels on a coordinate grid; the independent variable (often time) is represented on the x-axis
🗑
y-axis   the vertical line with labels on a coordinate grid; the dependent variable (often distance) is represented on the y-axis
🗑
distance-time graph   illustrates change in motion; time is graphed on the x-axis and distance is on the y-axis
🗑
speed-time graph   illustrates the speed of an object on the y-axis and the time on the x-axis
🗑
force   a push or pull (examples are gravity, friction, magnetism, wind, etc.)
🗑

Review the information in the table. When you are ready to quiz yourself you can hide individual columns or the entire table. Then you can click on the empty cells to reveal the answer. Try to recall what will be displayed before clicking the empty cell.

To hide a column, click on the column name.

To hide the entire table, click on the "Hide All" button.

You may also shuffle the rows of the table by clicking on the "Shuffle" button.

Or sort by any of the columns using the down arrow next to any column heading.
If you know all the data on any row, you can temporarily remove it by tapping the trash can to the right of the row.
