---|---|---|---|---|---|
Genotype | the combination of alleles that are present that give us our gene: some are dominant some are recessive
🗑
Phenotype | the physical traits SEEN that express the type of allele in the genotype
🗑
Heterozygous | a genotype where there is one dominant allele and one recessive allele in the gene; the dominant allele will be seen in the phenotype
🗑
Homozygous Dominant | a genotype where both alleles are dominant in the gene
🗑
Homozygous Recessive | a genotype where both alleles are recessive in the gene
🗑
Gene | the basic code for developing features that comes from two alleles on the paired chromosome
🗑
Chromosome | a structure in the nucleus that transfers genetic information from the parent cell to the daughter cell in living organisms; the transfer of chromosomes takes place during reproduction
🗑
Allele | variations of genes that determine traits in organisms; two corresponding alleles on two paired chromosomes constitutes a gene
🗑
DNA | inhereted information that is stored
🗑
Dominant | more inuential allele; will be seen in the phenotype if present in the genotype
🗑
Recessive | less inuential allele; will only be seen in the phenotype if it is the ONLY allele type present
🗑
Punnett Square | a process used to determine all of the possible genotypes for offspring of sexual reproduction
🗑
Meiosis | the process by which the number of chromosomes is reduced by half to form sex cells that will pass chromosomes onto the offspring
