plasma membrane   the outer boundary of the cell, called the cell membrane

cytoplasm   the region of the cell with the membrane that includes the fluid, the cytoplasm,and all of the organelles except the nucleus

cytosol   the solute portion of the cytoplasm, includes molecules and small particles

nucleus   the command center of the cell, controls all of the cells actions

prokaryote   microscopic single celled, doesn't have distinct cell membrane or organelle.

eukaryote   an organism consisting of cells that contain DNA and chromosomes, every living thing but archaebacteria and eubacteria

organelle   the small parts that form a cell: ex- cytoplasm, cell membrane, mitochondria

tissue   a group of similar cells that perform a similar function Example- muscle  
🗑
organ   a group of similar tissues that perform a common function. Example- heart, liver, brain

organ system   A group of organs that perform a function, Example- digestive system
