Definition
Water Displacement   Volume is a measure of the amount of space an object takes up. If you measure the amount the water level increases, you can find the volume of the water pushed out of the way.  
Graduated Cylinder   A common piece of laboratory equipment used to measure the volume of a liquid. It has a narrow cylindrical shape. Each marked line on the graduated cylinder represents the amount of liquid that has been measured.  
Milliter   One thousandth of a liter.  
Liter   A metric unit of capacity, formerly defined as the volume of 1 kilogram of water under standard conditions, now equal to 1,000 cubic centimeters.  
Density   The density of a substance is its mass per unit volume. Mass/Volume  
Units of Density   g/cm3 OR g/ml  
Examples of Irregular Shaped Objects   Rocks, marbles, crystals, erasers, paper clips, film canisters.
