Question
Answer
It is a push or pull exerted on an object in order to change the motion of the object. It is measured in Newtons.   Force
🗑
It is the use of force to move an object some distance. It is measured in Joules.   Work
🗑
A disturbance that transfers energy.   Wave
🗑
It is the solid, liquid, or gas material through which a wave can travel.   Medium
🗑
The points where a wave is at its highest.   Crest
🗑
The points where a wave is at its lowest.   Trough
🗑
It is a wave where it vibrates in the direction that the wave travels.   Longitudinal wave
🗑
Parts of a longitudinal wave that are pushed together.   Compression
🗑
Parts of a longitudinal wave that are spread apart.   Rarefaction
🗑
It is a wave where it vibrates perpendicular to the direction that the wave travels.   Transverse wave
🗑
They are waves that require a medium.   Mechanical waves
🗑
They are vibrations of electric and magnetic fields. They can travel without a medium.   Electromagnetic waves
🗑
The measure of how far the vibration of a wave travels from the medium.   Amplitude
🗑
The distance from any point on a wave to the next identical point on the same wave.   Wavelength
🗑
The number of waves that pass a point in a given amount of time.   Frequency
🗑
It is what frequency is measured in.   Hertz
🗑
It is the speed a wave travels at.   Wave speed
🗑
The ability to do work.   Power
🗑
If you apply a force of 200 Newtons to lift a dog 5 feet, what amount of work will you accomplish?   1000 Joules
🗑
If 5000 Joules of work are needed to move a Prius 20 feet, what is the weight of the Prius?   2500 Newtons
🗑
If a wave is traveling 400 meters per second and the frequency of the wave is 200 Hertz, what is the wavelength?   2 meters
🗑
How would you use Newtons to find the amount of work needed to be done?   You would multiply the Newtons by the distance that you are moving the object.
🗑
How do you you find Newtons if your force is in pounds.   To convert pounds to Newtons, it is important that you multiply and not divide. You multiply the force in pounds by 9.81 to get your force in Newtons.
🗑
If you don't know what the amount of force an is object some distance but you know the distance you push it and the work being done is, how do you find the force needed to move the object?   You divide the work being done by the distance that you are moving the object.
🗑
If you are trying to determine the amount of work that you need to perform to move a car 20 meters and the car is 3000 Newtons, how would you find the work needed to move the car?   You would multiply the force by the distance to find work.
🗑
Based on what has been taught, how would you describe how to find power?   First, you need to find the amount of work being done and the time it took to perform the work. You divide the amount of work performed by the amount time it took to perform the work. The quotient is the amount of power used.
