Plant adaptations for protection/defense | an intact and impenetrable barrier composed of bark and a waxy cuticle/hard shells, thorns (modified branches), and spines (modified leaves).

Animal defenses from illness & injury | by constantly facing attacks from foreign invaders that can cause infection and disease, the body has a number of external and internal safeguards that prevent most dangerous invaders from entering and causing harm.

Homeostasis | The tendency of the body to seek and maintain a condition of balance or equilibrium within its internal environment, even when faced with external changes.
