Ancient Life Forms   Plants or animals that are very old. They existed many thousands and millions of years ago.

Catastrophic Events   A natural incidence or occurence that causes destruction and change in the environment. Catastrophic events include volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, tsunamis, and severe weather events, such as hurricanes, tornadoes and floods.

Climate Change   A long-term change in daily weather conditions, such as temperature, precipitation, and wind patterns, over periods ranging from decades to millions of years.

Endangered Species   Any organism that is in danger of becoming extinct

Extinct   Plants or animals that once lived on the Earth but have all died.

Fossils   The remains or traces of ancient living things.

Habitat Destruction   A process that results in the devastation of a natural habitat causing the displacement or death of plants and animals in the region. The habitat is changed or destroyeds o it can no longer support the organisms in their growth and survival.

Modern Life Forms   Plants and animals that exist right now or have existed within modern history.
