---|---|---|---|---|---|
Cells | The basic unit of structure and function in all living organisms
🗑
Organelles | Known as "little organs." They are small structures inside the cell that carry out specific functions
🗑
Nucleus | Holds the cell's DNA. It is the information center of the cell and controls all of the cell's activities.
🗑
Mitochondria | Provides energy for the cell by releasing energy that was stored in food. "Powerhouse"
🗑
Nucleolus | Found inside of the nucleus and is responsible for making ribosomes
🗑
Ribosomes | The site where proteins are made
🗑
Golgi Body (Golgi Apparatus) | The cell's "post office". It receives proteins and packages them and distributes them to other parts of the cell
🗑
Cell Membrane | The "gatekeeper" of the cell. It regulates what can enter and leave the cell. It also provides protection and support
🗑
Lysosome | Small structures that contain digestive enzymes that break down materials and waste in the cell. Known as the recycling center of the cell.
🗑
Vacuole | Storage center of the cell. Mostly stores water and carbohydrates. Very large in plant cells.
🗑
Cytoplasm | Gel-like substance that holds all of the organelles. it is found between the nucleus and the cell membrane.
🗑
Cell Wall | Only found in plant cells. It is a thick, rigid structure found surrounding the outside of the plant cell. It provides protection and support. It gives the plant cell it's rectangular shape
🗑
Chloroplasts | Green Structure that captures energy from the sun during photosynthesis to make food for the cell. Only found in plant cells
🗑
Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER) | Transports and assembles proteins in the cell. The "highway"

Review the information in the table. When you are ready to quiz yourself you can hide individual columns or the entire table. Then you can click on the empty cells to reveal the answer. Try to recall what will be displayed before clicking the empty cell.
To hide a column, click on the column name.
To hide the entire table, click on the "Hide All" button.
You may also shuffle the rows of the table by clicking on the "Shuffle" button.
Or sort by any of the columns using the down arrow next to any column heading.
If you know all the data on any row, you can temporarily remove it by tapping the trash can to the right of the row.
