Scientific Method   Steps to solve a problem in science.

Independent Variable   What is being tested, the part of the problem the scientist changes to affect the outcome.

Dependent Variable   The variable that changes because of the independent variable.

Control   The "normal", what you compare results to.

Constant   The parts of the experiment that stays the same throughout the whole experiment.

Matter   Any object that has mass and takes up space. 4 properties of matter: mass, weight, volume, density.

Metric Units   The way to measure things in science, based on a scale of 10's.

Mass   Amount of "stuff" (matter) that is in an object. Base unit: grams.

Triple Beam Balance   3 masses that add together to balance on one side.

Poses   Name for the three masses you move on the triple beam balance, add them together for total mass in g.

Weight   How much gravity is pulling you down, measured with a scale.
