Scientific Method | an organized approach used to learn how the natural world works

Control Group | provides a normal standard against which the biologist can compare results of the experimental group

Experimental Group | identical to the control group except for one factor

Dependent Variable | the variable the scientist observes or measures; is affected by the independent variable

Theory | when a set of related hypotheses is confirmed to be true many times, and it explain a great amount of data, scientists often reclassify it as this

Peer Review | scientists who are experts in the field anonymously read and critique that research paper

Review the information in the table. When you are ready to quiz yourself you can hide individual columns or the entire table. Then you can click on the empty cells to reveal the answer. Try to recall what will be displayed before clicking the empty cell.
