Chemotropism (aka chemotaxis) | The tendency of an organism or a part of an organism to grow toward or away from a chemical stimulus.

Feedback Loop | The return of information about a system or process that may effect a change in the system or process; the information that is returned.

Geotropism/Gravitropism | the growth of an organism with respect to the force of gravity. The upward growth of plant shoots is an instance of negative geotropism ; the downward growth of roots is positive geotropism .

Phototropism (aka phototaxis) | a plant growth movement that occurs in response to the direction of a source of light.
