Municipal Courts   Only hears Class C Misdemeanors which are violation of city law. (NOTHING CIVIL)

Justice of Peace   Does hear Criminal Matters. They also hear Class C Misdemeanors which also is Violation of State Laws.

County Courts   County Courts have the Power to hear Class A & Class B Misdemeanor Class A: 1yr of Jail time Class B: 6 months of Jail time.

County Court at Law   Comes from the Legislature. It has whatever power "The Legislature Gives Them".

District Court   Hears only Felony for which you can be fined or go to prison. District Court has been given power to hear 1 Misdemeanor. Ex. Only Official Misconduct.

Texas Court of Appeal   Can hear any Criminal Appeal they wish, from a County Court or District Court. They CANNOT hear Death Appeal.

Texas Court of Criminal Appeal   Can hear any Criminal Appeal they wish, and Death appeal

Texas Court Of Criminal Appeal   Is the last Court in Texas to hear Criminal Matters.

Texas Supreme Court   Hears Nothing Criminal.
