Term
Definition
Adaptation   The process of adapting or being adapted.
🗑
Alternation of generations   A pattern of reproduction occurring in the life cycles of many lower plants and some invertebrates, involving a regular alternation between two distinct forms. The generations are alternately sexual and asexual.
🗑
Colonial   Relating to, or characteristic of a colony or colonies.
🗑
Dicots   A flowering plant with an embryo that bears two seed leaves. Dicots constitute the larger of the two great divisions of flowering plants, and typically have broad, stalked leaves with netlike veins.
🗑
Enclosed Seeds   Produced by angiosperms. There ovules are enclosed by an ovary, a structure within the flower. As the seed ripens, the ovary enlarges and forms a fruit, which provides some protection for the developing seed.
🗑
Flowers   The seed bearing part of a plant, which consists of reproductive organs that are surrounded by a brightly colored corolla and a green calyx.
🗑
Fruit   the sweet product of a tree or other plant that contains seeds.
🗑
Leaves   flattened part of a higher plant, typically green, attached to stem or stalk. Main organs of photosynthesis.
🗑
Monocots   Flowery plant with an embryo that bears a single cotyledon. Monocots constitute the smaller of the two great divisions of flowering plants, and typically have elongated stalkless leaves with parallel veins.
🗑
Multicellular   organism consisting of many cells.
🗑
Pollen   powdery substance, normally yellow, consisting of microscopic grains discharged from the male part of a flower. Each grain contains a male gamete that can fertilize the female ovule, where pollen is transported by the wind, insects, or other animals.
🗑
Roots   part of a plant that attaches it to the ground or to a support, typically underground, getting water and nourishment to the rest of the plant through numerous branches.
🗑
Seeds   a flowering plant's unit of reproduction, capable of developing into another such plant.
🗑
Stems   the main body of stalk of a plant or shrub, normally rising above ground.
🗑
Unicellular   consisting of a single cell
🗑
Vascular tissue   the tissue in higher plants that constitutes the vascular system, consisting of phloem and xylem, where water and nutrients are conducted throughout the plant.
🗑

Review the information in the table. When you are ready to quiz yourself you can hide individual columns or the entire table. Then you can click on the empty cells to reveal the answer. Try to recall what will be displayed before clicking the empty cell.

To hide a column, click on the column name.

To hide the entire table, click on the "Hide All" button.

You may also shuffle the rows of the table by clicking on the "Shuffle" button.

Or sort by any of the columns using the down arrow next to any column heading.
