        Help!

Term
Definition
Adenosine Triphosphate   molecules used to carry and transfer energy in living cells.
🗑
Anabolism   the combining of molecules during chemical processes in order to build the materials of living tissue.
🗑
Basal Metabolic Rate   a measure of heat given off per time unit; expresses the amount of energy used by the body at rest to maintain automatic, life supporting processes.
🗑
Basal Metabolism   energy used by the body at rest to maintain automatic, life-supporting processes.
🗑
Catabolism   the process of breaking down complex molecules into simpler ones during chemical reactions.
🗑
Cytoplasm   a colloidal substance consisting of organic and inorganic substances, including proteins and water found in the living cell.
🗑
Glycogen   the form of carbohydrates stored in the muscles.
🗑
Homeostasis   a healthy and relatively constant internal environment within the body.
🗑
Lactic Acid   a waste product formed when carbohydrates are not completely metabolized.
🗑
Membranes   thin layers of tissues that wall in the cytoplasm of cells.
🗑
Metabolism   the process by which living cells use the nutrients in many chemical reactions that provide energy for vital processes and activities.
🗑
Metabolic Rate   how fast the chemical processes of metabolism take place.
🗑
Osmosis   the movement of fluid through a semipermeable cell membrane to create an equal concentration of solute on both sides of the membrane.
🗑
Semipermeable   allowing varying amounts of certain substances to pass through, as with a membrane.
🗑
Voluntary Activities   conscious and deliberate actions that burn energy in the body.

Review the information in the table. When you are ready to quiz yourself you can hide individual columns or the entire table. Then you can click on the empty cells to reveal the answer. Try to recall what will be displayed before clicking the empty cell.

To hide a column, click on the column name.

To hide the entire table, click on the "Hide All" button.

You may also shuffle the rows of the table by clicking on the "Shuffle" button.

Or sort by any of the columns using the down arrow next to any column heading.
If you know all the data on any row, you can temporarily remove it by tapping the trash can to the right of the row.
