|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Interphase | Gap 1 (G1) - The cell and its organelles grow with protein synthesis.
DNA synthesis (S) - Duplicates the DNA.
Gap 2 (G2) - Resumes preparation for cell division.

| Mitosis | Divides the cell into two nuclei; Contains prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase.
🗑
| Prophase | DNA and proteins condense into tightly coiled chromosomes. Centrioles move to opposite poles, and spindle fibers begin to form.
🗑
| Metaphase | Spindle fibers attach to each chromosome. They align the chromosomes along the equator.
🗑
| Anaphase | Chromatids separate to opposite sides of the cell. Cytokineses usually begins in late anaphase or telophase.
🗑
| Telophase | Nuclear membranes start to form, chromosomes begin to uncoil, and the spindle fibers fall apart.
🗑
| Cytokinesis | Cytokinesis divides cytoplasm between two daughter cells, each with a genetically identical nucleus. The cells enter interphase and begin the cycle again.

Review the information in the table. When you are ready to quiz yourself you can hide individual columns or the entire table. Then you can click on the empty cells to reveal the answer. Try to recall what will be displayed before clicking the empty cell.
To hide a column, click on the column name.
To hide the entire table, click on the "Hide All" button.
You may also shuffle the rows of the table by clicking on the "Shuffle" button.
Or sort by any of the columns using the down arrow next to any column heading.
If you know all the data on any row, you can temporarily remove it by tapping the trash can to the right of the row.
