Flower Parts

Definition
sepal   Outer part of bud that protects and surrounds the bud before it opens.

petals   Surrounds the inside parts of the flower after it opens. Brightly colored to attract insects.

stamen   The male part of the flower. It includes the anther and the filament.  
🗑
anther   The top part of the stamen which produces pollen.  
🗑
filament   The bottom part of the stamen which holds up the anther.  
🗑
pistil   The female part of the flower. It includes the stigma, style and ovary.  
🗑
stigma   The sticky part at the top of the pistil.  
🗑
style   The tube that connects the stigma and the ovary and it is part of the pistil.  
🗑
ovary   The female reproductive part of a flower that contains the eggs / seeds.  
🗑
embryo   The pollinated egg (baby seed).  
🗑
pollen   The powdery material that is made by the stamen and is used in reproduction.  
🗑
pollination   The pollen transferring (moving) from the stamen to the pistil.  
🗑
seed   The pollinated egg. It can grow into a new plant.  
🗑
spore   A single cell that can develop into a new plant. Usually found on the back of leaves.
