Inlets | Water filled spaces between barrier islands. As the tide changes, the amount of water in the space will change. The shape of these can be changed.

Beaches | Shorelines made of sand. Shorelines are always changing due to waves and currents.

Estuaries | The area where a river meets the ocean.

Salt Marshes | Found in estuaries. They act like a sponge during storms to soak up excess water.

Sediment | Weathered down material carried by water or wind.

Sand Dunes | These sweep up in mounds. Plant's rots hold these in place.

Currents | Ongoing movements of water.

Tides | The level of water which rises and falls every day.

Waves | Repeated movement of water lapping against the shore.

Ocean Shore Zone | Made up of barrier islands, inlets, beaches, estuaries, salt marshes, sediment, sand dunes, currents, tides, and waves.
