Quiz yourself by thinking what should be in each of the black spaces below before clicking on it to display the answer.
        Help!

Term
Definition
cell membrane   around the outside of cell; holds cell together, lets somethings in and keeps other things out
🗑
cytoplasm   gel-like fluid inside the cell; holds the cell's organelles
🗑
nucleus   center of the cell; control centerl: holds information to help the cell run and make new cells (ex. DNA)
🗑
nuclear membrane   surrounds the nucleus; protects the nucleus
🗑
vacuoles   clear fluid-filled sacks; stores materials and waste
🗑
mitochondria   organelle--rod shaped (looks like the bottom of a shoe); uses oxygen to get the energy from food
🗑
endoplasmic reticulum   organelle (long and thin, passageway like a maze); makes products needed by the cell, makes "deliveries" to other cell parts
🗑
ribosomes   organelles (tiny and round, grain-like), sometimes attached to the endoplasmic reticulum; makes products needed by the cell
🗑
golgi bodies   organelles--like stacks of hollow pancakes; "packages" products for delivery
🗑
chromosomes   threadlike structures found in the nucleus; contains the genes and DNA that determine what a cell and organism does and looks like
🗑
lysosome   clear sack; breaks down food molecules and waste
🗑
cell wall   only in plants; outer barrier of the cell, contains cellulose (plant fiber); provides extra support and shape
🗑
chloroplasts   only in plants; organelle (oval and green), contains chlorophyll (green pigment); chlorophyll captures sunlight, carry out photosynthesis to make food

Review the information in the table. When you are ready to quiz yourself you can hide individual columns or the entire table. Then you can click on the empty cells to reveal the answer. Try to recall what will be displayed before clicking the empty cell.

To hide a column, click on the column name.

To hide the entire table, click on the "Hide All" button.

You may also shuffle the rows of the table by clicking on the "Shuffle" button.

Or sort by any of the columns using the down arrow next to any column heading.
