| MORAL RIGHTS | Rights that authors and performers hold regarding the integrity or their work or sound recording. After their property has been sold or the copyright transfered, they retain the right to be cited as its creator.

| PERFORMING RIGHTS | The right for performers to receive payment when their performances and sound recordings are broadcast or performed in public.

| PLAGIARISM | Using the ideas and words of someone else without clearly acknowledging where the information came from.

| FAIR DEALING | Allows companies and individuals to use material that is copyrighted in certain ways that could benefit society, culture, and economics, without harming the interests of the copyright owners.

| PATENT | Patents protect “inventions,” like processes, equipment, and manufacturing techniques, but don’t address the artistic or aesthetic qualities of an object.

| BLANKET LICENSE | Allows the owner to perform some or all of the works in the repertory for the same set fee.

| COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT | Copying or using a work or other subject matter in a way that violates its copyright.

| DISTRIBUTION RIGHT | The sole right, which the copyright owner has, to approve the first transfer of ownership of each copy of a protected work.

| MAKING AVAILABLE RIGHT | The sole right, which the copyright owner has, to approve the method in which their work is distributed in instances where the public can choose when and where to receive that work. (ie - iTunes)

| RIGHTS HOLDERS | People, organizations, or companies that own a copyright. ie - authours, photographers, performers, etc.

| TECHNOLOGICAL NEUTRALITY | A principle in which the law should encompass the rapidly changing technologies and media connected to copyright works.
