Mercury Barometer   Has a glass tube open at the bottom and is partially filled with mercury . If the mercury rises it means there is high air pressure, if it sinks it means there is low air pressure

Aneroid Barometer   Has an airtight metal chamber that is sensitive to changes in air pressure. when the air pressure increases the dial moves one way, if decreases dial moves the other way

Altitude/Elevation   The distance above sea level

Troposphere   The lowest layer of the atmosphere. Conditions in the troposphere are more variable then in the other layers

Stratosphere   Extends from the top of the troposphere to about 50 km above earth's surface. The stratosphere contains the ozone layer
