| Copyright | Legal right to reproduce, sell, or publish a particular work.

| Intellectual Property | Property that is not physical in form, but none the less can be "owned". For example, a particular expression of an idea could be considered Intellectual Property if the necessary legal actions are taken.

| Royalty | Payment made to the owner of a patent or copyright for the use of the property protected.

| Trade-Marks | Words, Phrases, Designs, or a combination of these things that are used to identify a particular company or organization, typically for consumer recognition.

| Public Domain | Realm of legally accessible and usable resources for the general public, without copyright restrictions placed on it, and therefore able to be used with out payment of royalties.

| Moral Rights | Rights that hold relevant through the copyright period which include: the right to claim authorship or remain anonymous, the right to deny permission of modifications of one's work, and the right to deny anyone use of one's work even when unmodified.

| Performing Rights | Copyright protection over performances such as: artistic, dramatic, or musical works, improvisations, sound recordings,, recitations and so forth. These rights continue on even after the copyright protection has expired.

| Plagiarism | The direct copying of or paraphrasing of someone else's work without the necessary personal input made. This could also include claiming an entire work as your own that is not, or improperly citing sources used.

| Fair Dealing | An exception that allows for limited copying for specific purposes excluding commercial use. Fair Dealing can occur in scenarios of private study, research, news reports, and so forth.

| Patent | Property Rights protecting inventions or new techniques, but not the artistic qualities of a product.

| Blanket License | A license issued by Performing Rights Societies that allows for the public performance of all songs within the license's catalog without having to continuously ask for permission on a song-to-song basis.
