First Quarter   3rd moon phase; the right half of the moon is lit up.

Third Quarter   7th moon phase; the left half of the moon is lit up.

Waxing   Term used when the lit portion of the moon is getting bigger.

Waning   Term used when the lit portion of the moon is getting smaller.

Waxing Crescent   2nd phase of the moon; a sliver of the moon is lit on the right side.

Waxing Gibbous   4th phase of the moon; a large portion of the moon is lit on the right side; almost full but not quite yet.

Waning Crescent   8th phase of the moon; almost a new moon. A sliver of the moon is lit on the left side.

Waning Gibbous   6th phase of the moon; the moon is now getting smaller, but a large portion of the left side of the moon is still lit up.

Wave   A long body of water that curls up and then breaks on the shore.  
🗑
Tide   The rising and falling of the sea that has to do with the Earth's gravitational pull.

Umbra   The complete shadow cast on the Earth by an eclipse. You can only see an eclipse if you are in it during an eclipse.

Penumbra   A less dark shadow outside the umbra made during an eclipse.  
🗑
Total Eclipse   An eclipse where the whole sun or moon covered.

Partial Eclipse   An eclipse where the sun or moon is only partialy covered.

Polaris   The "north star". The Earth's axis always points to it.
