Nursing Assistant in long term care

Accountable Answerable for one’s actions
Activities of daily living Personal care tasks such as bathing, caring for skin, fingernails, and hair, eating, drinking, caring for the mouth and teeth, dressing, walking, transferring, eliminating and communicating
Acute Care 24-hour skilled care given in hospitals and ambulatory surgical centers. it is for people who require short-term, immediate care for illnesses or injuries.
Activities Director plans activities for residents to help them socialize and stay active
Adult Day Services for people who need some help and supervision during certain hours, but who do no live in the facility where care is provided.
APRN a registered nurse who has completed training at the postgraduate level ( master's or doctoral). can make diagnoses and prescribe treatment.
Assault a threat to harm a person resulting in the person feeling fearful that they will be harmed. telling a resident that she will be slapped if she doesn't stop yelling.
Assisted living Facilities are residences for people who need some help with daily tasks such as showering, meals, and dressing. they don't need 24-hour care it allows more independent living a homelike environment.
Care Team Group of people with different kinds of education and experience who provides resident care
Chain of Command line of authority and helps to make sure that residents get proper health care. protects employees and employers from liability.
Charge Nurse A nurse responsible for a team of healthcare workers

Medicare federal health insurance program that was established in 1965 for people aged 65 or older. covers people of any age with permanent kidney failure or certain disabilities.

Person centered care emphasizes the individuality of the person who needs care, and recognizes and develops the person's capabilities. revolves around the resident and promotes her individual preferences choices, dignity, and interests
Physical Therapist evaluates a person and develops a treatment plan to increase movement, improve circulation, promote healing, reduce pain, prevent disability, and regain or maintain mobility. gives therapy in the form of heat, cold, massage.
Physician Assistant licensed professional who diagnoses disease or disability and develops treatment plans, as well as prescribes medication. works under the supervision of a doctor and has received masters degrees + national licensure examination.
Physician or Doctor licensed professional who diagnoses disease or fixability and prescribes treatment and medication. graduated four year medical school and specialized training programs.

Procedure A method or way of doing something
Registered Nurse A licensed nurse who is residence creates care plan, monitors progress, provide skilled nursing care, administer treatments and medication and supervises care given by nursing assistance and other members of the care team
Rehabilitation care given by specialists and professionals, physical, occupational, and speech therapists help restore or improve function after an illness or injury.
Resident A person living in a long-term care facility
Sandwich generation People responsible for the care of both their children and aging relatives
Skilled care Medically, necessary caregiving by skilled nurse therapist
Subacute care Caregiving in hospitals are in long-term care facilities for people who care less than an acute illness, but higher level of care for chronic illness
Team leader Nurse in charge of a group of residence for one shift of duty
Team Nursing Method of care in which a nurse acts as a leader of a group of people giving care
