| equator | an imaginary line encircling the earth equally divides the north and south poles. |
| longitude | the north-south meridian lines in a grid. measure east and west of the prime meridian. |
| prime meridian | imaginary line that passes through the north and south pole. it shows 0 degrees longitude. |
| region | an area with one or more features that make it different from surrounding areas. |
| landforms | the natural features of the Earth's surface. |
| climate | the average weather conditions in a certain area over a period of time. |
| environment | all the live and nonliving things that affect life in an area. |
| diffusion | the spread of people, ideas, things, and diseases from 1 the another. |
| resources | the materials found on earth that people need and value. |
| continents | 7 great land masses of the world. Africa, Asia, Antarctica, Australia, europe, north America and south America. |
| geography | the study of the Earth's geophysical and cultural features. |
| compass rose | a circle showing the principal directions printed on a map. |
| cartography | the study of practicing, and making maps. |
