Principles of Design | Balance, Unity (Harmony), Movement, Proportion, Emphasis, Rhythm, Variety, are used as guidelines that tell us how to use the Elements of Design to create pleasing designs. |
Balance | A principle of design that refers to how elements are arranged to achieve stability (3 kinds: symmetrical {mirror image}, asymmetrical, and radial{comes from a circular point})Unity |
Unity | Creating a sense of visual oneness in a work of art |
Mvement | A principle of design similar to rhythm, it gives an artwork a sense of motion. |
Proportion | Also called scale refers to the relationships of the size of objects in a body of work. This gives a sense of size seen as a relationship of objects. such as smallness or largeness. |
Emphasis | Also known as focus, in a design is what draws the eye first, before it travels to the rest of the design. |
