How does the stimulation of alpha-1 receptors affect the EYE? Causes pupil dilation.
How does the stimulation of alpha-1 receptors affect the BLADDER and PROSTATE? Causes contraction.
How does the stimulation of beta-1 receptors affect the HEART? Causes increased force of contraction and increased heart rate.
How does the stimulation of beta-1 receptors affect the KIDNEYS? Causes increased renin secretion, which leads to increased angiotensin. This increases BP.
How does the stimulation of beta-2 receptors affect the SMOOTH MUSCLE of the GI tract? Causes decreased GI tone and motility.
How does the stimulation of beta-2 receptors affect the LUNGS? Causes bronchodilation.
How does the stimulation of beta-2 receptors affect the UTERUS? Causes relaxation of the uterus.
How does the stimulation of beta-2 receptors affect the LIVER? Causes activation of glycogenolysis, which increases the levels of blood glucose.

Name the neurotransmitter found in the PARASYMPATHETIC nervous system. Acetylcholine (ACh)
What is the purpose of the body's SYMPATHETIC response? "Fight or Flight." HR, BP, blood sugar will all inc. Broncho- and pupil dilation.
What is the purpose of the body's PARASYMPATHETIC response? To "rest and digest," i.e. slow the body down in times of non-stress. Opposite of sympathetic response.
