Why do the large, stiff plates of the lithosphere able to move? Due to the asthenosphere's ability to flow

lithosphere The part of the Earth that consists of the crust and uppermost part of the mantle.
Why do S & P waves arrive at a detection point at different times during an earthquake? They travel at different speeds.
