Urinary System

The Kidney

QuestionAnswer
Cortex Composed of millions of microscopic functional units called nephrons.(Outer layer of the Kidney)
Medulla (Renal Pyramids)base of each pyramid faces cortex, while apex empties into cuplike cavities called CALYCES.
Ureter A tube that carries urine from kidney to the bladder.

Renal Pelvis A funal shaped structure at the beginning of the ureter
Urinalysis The examination of urine to determine the presence of blood cells, bacteria, acidity level, specific gravity and physical characteristics.(color, clarity, and odor)
Peristalsis a muscle that pushes urine down the ureters.
Urinary Bladder the muscular organ the stores urine.
Urethra the tube that leads from your bladder and ends at the urinary meatus.
Urinary Meatus the opening of your pee hole.
