| Physical Property | A characteristic of a substance that does not involve a chemical change, such as density, color, or hardness. |
| Density | The ratio of the mass of a substance to the volume of the substance. |
| Formula for density | D = m/v |
| Density of liquid water | 1.00 g/cm2 |
| Physical Change | A change of matter from one form to another without a change in which the matter retains it's identity. |
| Thermal conductivity | The rate at which a substance tranfers heat. |
| State | The physical form in which a substance exists at a specific temperature, which includes solid, liquid, and gas. |
| Solubility | The ability of a substance to dissolve in another substance. |
| Ductility | The ability of a substance to be pulled into a wire. |
| Malleability | The ability of a substance to be rolled or pounded into thin sheets. |
