Amoxicillin (Amoxil, Augmentin) antibiotic; broad-spectrum, inhibits the final stage of bacterial cell wall synthesis,active against both aerobic gram positive and aerobic gram negative bacteria;treats: infections of ear, nose, throat, GI tract, skin, and soft tissue. Also gonorrhea.
Amphotericin B (Fungizone) antifungal; used IV for wide spectrum of potentially fatal systemic fungal infections. Used topically for cutaneous and cucutaneous infections caused by Candida
Amphojel (aluminum hydroxide) antacid; nonsystemic antacid with moderate neutralizing action. Reduces acid concentration and pepsin activity by raising pH of gastric secretions; treats: symptomatic relief of gastric hyperacidity associated with gastritis, esophageal reflux
