Irmer's Electricity

Electricity & Electric Circuits Terms for Grade 5

QuestionAnswer
Insulator A material that electricity cannot flow through.
Conductor A material that electricity flows through well.
Electric Current A flow of electrical charges.
Circuit The path that electric current flows through.
Power Source The part of a circuit that supplies the electricity.
Load The part of a circuit that uses electricity to run.
Series Circuit A circuit where energy flows in one path. If one part is removed, the circuit stops working.
Parallel Circuits A circuit where energy flows in more than one path. If one part is removed, the circuit will still work.
Simple Circuit A circuit with three main parts: a power source, a conductor, and a load.
Static Electricity Electricity that is created when two things rub together.
