behavior-rating scale systematic means of recording the frequency with which certain behaviors occur
self-report an interview or questionnaire in which a person reports his or her attitudes, feelings and behaviors
standardized test tests for which norms are based on the performance of a range of individuals
validity scale a group of test items that suggest whether or not the test taker is answering honestly
norms an established standard of performance or behavior
norm group a group of test takers whose scores establish the norm for a particular test
achievement tests test that measures the amount of knowledge one has in specific academic areas
aptitude tests a test that is designed to predict a person's future performance or capacity to learn
vocational interest inventories tests that are used to help people make decisions about career options
forced-choice format a method of presenting test questions that requires a respondent to select one of several possible answers
objective test a test that has a group of standardized test items and specific answers that are considered to be correct
projective test a psychological test that presents ambiguous stimuli designed to elicit a response that reflects the test taker's feelings, interests and biases
open-ended format test that has no clearly specified answer
cognitive restructuring a method of coping in which one changes the thoughts one has in a particular situation
